Consultancy and Management Planning
Feral Pest Solutions leverages extensive hands-on experience in pest and predator control, along with strong industry contacts, to partner with clients and develop effective management plans. Our approach includes conducting comprehensive animal density surveys utilizing thermal drones or helicopters, combined with night monitoring, trail camera traps, and predator control monitoring tools. This multifaceted strategy allows us to create a clear picture of the pest problem and formulate suitable management control plans.
Field operators utilize mobile apps to capture real-time data, which is then processed with ArcGIS to provide high-level mapping data. This analytical approach supports informed decision-making for future planning and control operations. By integrating technology and expert knowledge, we can deliver tailored solutions that effectively address pest management challenges.
Thermal Night Operations
To achieve optimal results, feral pest solutions often target pest animals at night. Using cutting-edge thermal imaging technology, we operate during the hours when these animals are most active. Many pest species become highly educated and challenging to manage after being hunted without a proper management strategy. By working at night, we can strike when they are exposed and away from tree cover, often successfully culling every animal we encounter.
Typically, the pest animals we cull at night using thermal-equipped firearms include deer, pigs, hares, rabbits, and goats. It's not uncommon for a single operator to cull over 20 deer in one night at ranges approaching 600 meters in complete darkness. With state-of-the-art thermal binoculars, we can detect deer at distances of 2 kms and hares out to 1km. If you require assistance with thermal monitoring as a method for reporting pest animal populations, please let us know.

Aerial Pest Management
Partnering with some of the best hunter/pilots and our team of licensed sharpshooters, we conduct aerial culling of large pest populations, specifically targeting goats, deer, and pigs. Our operations range from a single shooter using the cost-effective Hughes 300 or Cabri G2 to a thermal-equipped 2 person shooting team working from a MD 500 or similar, allowing us to efficiently detect and cull significant numbers of pest animals across vast areas.
Feral Pest Solutions also offers aerial mapping services and detailed pest animal density surveys before and after our culling operations. Additionally, we can provide aerial carcass recovery options to ensure that resources are supplied back into the community as needed.
Predator Control
Our dedicated and hardworking team conducts predator control operations throughout New Zealand, passionately committed to protecting native flora and fauna. Currently, we are actively managing a 6,000-hectare area bordering the Raukumara Ranges, which features a diverse landscape of mature pine forests, virgin and regenerating native bush, and crystal-clear streams. This initiative aims to safeguard critically endangered species such as long-tailed bats, kiwi, whio (blue duck), kaka, and other native wildlife.
Over the past three years, we have successfully culled more than 5,000 pest animals using kill traps and bait stations, with all data meticulously recorded using ArcGIS for post-analysis and future planning. The targeted species include possums, stoats, rats, goats, pigs, and deer, all playing a crucial role in restoring balance to the ecosystem and ensuring the survival of our native species.
If you need assistance with a current or upcoming predator control project, whether nationwide or internationally, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to help!

Feral Hare and Rabbit Control
Our team carries out regular control operations for hares and rabbits, employing thermal-equipped rifles and binoculars for efficient detection. Utilizing the latest advancements in thermal technology, we've successfully eradicated large populations of these pests from newly planted areas, airport grounds, and farm paddocks. Whether you're dealing with hares threatening your young forest seedlings or rabbits in urban settings, we can develop a tailored management plan to address your specific challenges.
